And [by] the night when it passes,

Hal fee zaalika qasamul lizee hijr

Sahih International
Is there [not] in [all] that an oath [sufficient] for one of perception?

O?UZU�UZU�U� O?UZO�UZ U?UZUSU�U?UZ U?UZO?UZU�UZ O�UZO?U?U�U?UZ O?U?O?UZO�O?U?

Alam tara kaifa fa’ala rabbuka bi’aad

Sahih International
Have you not considered how your Lord dealt with ‘Aad –

O?U?O�UZU�UZ O�UZO�O?U? U�U�U�O?U?U�UZO�O?U?

Iramaa zaatil ‘imaad

Sahih International
[With] Iram – who had lofty pillars,

U�U�UZU�O?U?U� U�UZU�U� USU?O�U�U�UZU�U� U�U?O�U�U�U?U�UZO� U?U?U� U�U�U�O?U?U�UZU�O?U?

Allatee lam yukhlaq misluhaa fil bilaad

Sahih International
The likes of whom had never been created in the land?


89:9

U?UZO�UZU�U?U?O?UZ U�U�UZU�O�U?USU�UZ O�UZO�O?U?U?O�UY U�U�O�UZU�O�U�O�UZ O?U?U�U�U�U?UZO�O?U?

Wa samoodal lazeena jaabus sakhra bil waad

Sahih International
And [with] Thamud, who carved out the rocks in the valley?

U?UZU?U?O�U�O?UZU?U�U�UZ O�U?U� U�U�U�O?UZU?U�O?UZO�O?U?

Wa fir’awna zil awtaad

Sahih International
And [with] Pharaoh, owner of the stakes? –


89:11

U�U�UZU�O�U?USU�UZ O�UZO?UZU?U�O�UY U?U?U� U�U�U�O?U?U�UZU�O?U?

Allazeena taghaw fil bilaad

Sahih International
[All of] whom oppressed within the lands


89:12

U?UZO?UZU?U�O�UZO�U?U?O�UY U?U?USU�UZO� U�U�U�U?UZO?UZO�O?UZ

Fa aksaroo feehal fasaad

Sahih International
And increased therein the corruption.


89:13

U?UZO�UZO?UZU� O?UZU�UZUSU�U�U?U�U� O�UZO?U?U�U?UZ O?UZU?U�O�UZ O?UZO�UZO�O?U?

Fasabba ‘alaihim Rabbuka sawta ‘azaab

Sahih International
So your Lord poured upon them a scourge of punishment.


89:14

O?U?U�UZU� O�UZO?UZU�U?UZ U�UZO?U?U�U�U�U�U?O�U�O�UZO�O?U?

Inna Rabbaka labil mirsaad

Sahih International
Indeed, your Lord is in observation.


89:15

U?UZO?UZU�UZU�O� U�U�U�O?U?U�O?UZU�U�U? O?U?O�UZO� U�UZO� U�O?U�O?UZU�UZU�U�U�U? O�UZO?U?U�U�U?U? U?UZO?UZU?U�O�UZU�UZU�U?U? U?UZU�UZO?UZU�U�UZU�U?U? U?UZUSUZU�U?U?U�U? O�UZO?U?U�U�U� O?UZU?U�O�UZU�UZU�U?

Fa ammal insaanu izaa mab talaahu Rabbuhoo fa akramahoo wa na’ ‘amahoo fa yaqoolu Rabbeee akraman

And as for man, when his Lord tries him and [thus] is generous to him and favors him, he says, “My Lord has honored me.”


89:16

U?UZO?UZU�UZU�O? O?U?O�UZO� U�UZO� U�O?U�O?UZU�UZU�U�U�U? U?UZU�UZO?UZO�UZ O?UZU�UZUSU�U�U? O�U?O?U�U�UZU�U?U? U?UZUSUZU�U?U?U�U? O�UZO?U?U�U�U� O?UZU�UZU�U�UZU�U?

Wa ammaaa izaa mabtalaahu faqadara ‘alaihi rizqahoo fa yaqoolu Rabbeee ahaanan

But when He tries him and restricts his provision, he says, “My Lord has humiliated me.”


89:17

U?UZU�UZU�O� O?UZU� U�UZU�O� O?U?U?U�O�U?U�U?U?U�UZ U�U�U�USUZO?U?USU�UZ

Kalla bal laa tukrimooo nal yateem

Sahih International
No! But you do not honor the orphan


89:18

U?UZU�UZO� O?UZO�UZU�U�O�U?U�U?U�UZ O?UZU�UZU�U� O�UZO?UZO�U�U? U�U�U�U�U?O?U�U?U?USU�U?

Wa laa tahaaaddoona ‘alaata’aamil miskeen

Sahih International
And you do not encourage one another to feed the poor.


89:19

U?UZO?UZO?U�U?U?U�U?U?U�UZ U�U�O?U?U�O�UZO�O�UZ O?UZU?U�U�U�O� U�UZU�U�U�U�O�

Wa taakuloonat turaasa aklal lammaa

Sahih International
And you consume inheritance, devouring [it] altogether,


89:20

U?UZO?U?O�U?O?U?U�U?U�UZ U�U�U�U�UZO�U�UZ O�U?O?U�U�O� O�UZU�U�U�O�

Wa tuhibboonal maala hubban jammaa

Sahih International
And you love wealth with immense love.


89:21

U?UZU�UZU�O? O?U?O�UZO� O?U?U?UZU�O?U? U�U�U�O?UZO�U�O�U? O?UZU?U�U�O� O?UZU?U�U�O�

Kallaaa izaaa dukkatil ardu dakkan dakka

Sahih International
No! When the earth has been leveled – pounded and crushed –


89:22

U?UZO�UZO?O?UZ O�UZO?U?U�U?UZ U?UZU�U�U�U�UZU�UZU?U? O�UZU?U�U�O� O�UZU?U�U�O�

Wa jaaa’a Rabbuka wal malaku saffan saffaa

Sahih International
And your Lord has come and the angels, rank upon rank,


89:23

U?UZO�U?O�UYU�U�O?UZ USUZU?U�U�UZO�U?O�U?U� O?U?O�UZU�UZU�UZU�U�UZ USUZU?U�U�UZO�U?O�U? USUZO?UZO�UZU?UZU�O�U? U�U�U�O?U?U�O?UZU�U�U? U?UZO?UZU�UZU�U�U� U�UZU�U? U�U�O�U?U�U?U�O�UZU�U�

Wa jeee’a yawma’izim bi jahannnam; Yawma ‘iziny yatazakkarul insaanu wa annaa lahuz zikraa

Sahih International
And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell – that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance?


89:24

USUZU�U?U?U�U? USUZU�U�UZUSU�O?UZU�U?U� U�UZO?UZU�U�U�O?U? U�U?O�UZUSUZO�O?U?U�

Yaqoolu yaa laitanee qaddamtu lihayaatee

Sahih International
He will say, “Oh, I wish I had sent ahead [some good] for my life.”


89:25

U?UZUSUZU?U�U�UZO�U?O�U? U�UZU�O� USU?O?UZO�U?U�O?U? O?UZO�UZO�O?UZU�U?U?U� O?UZO�UZO?U?

Fa Yawma izil laa yu’azzibu ‘azaabahooo ahad

Sahih International
So on that Day, none will punish [as severely] as His punishment,


89:26

U?UZU�UZO� USU?U?O�U?U�U? U?UZO�UZO�U�UZU�U?U?U� O?UZO�UZO?U?

Wa laa yoosiqu wasaaqa hooo ahad

Sahih International
And none will bind [as severely] as His binding [of the evildoers].


89:27

USUZU�U�O?UZUSUZU�O?U?U�UZO� U�U�U�UZU�U?U�O?U? U�U�U�U�U?O�U�U�UZO�U?U�UZU�O�U?

Yaaa ayyatuhan nafsul mutma ‘innah

Sahih International
[To the righteous it will be said], “O reassured soul,


89:28

U�O�U�O�U?O?U?U�U� O?U?U�UZU�U� O�UZO?U?U�U?U? O�UZO�O�U?USUZO�U� U�UZU�O�U�O�U?USUZU�O�U�

Irji’eee ilaa Rabbiki raadiyatam mardiyyah

Sahih International
Return to your Lord, well-pleased and pleasing [to Him],


89:29

U?UZU�O?U�O�U?U�U?U� U?U?U� O?U?O?UZU�O?U?U�

Fadkhulee fee ‘ibaadee

Sahih International
And enter among My [righteous] servants


89:30

U?UZU�O?U�O�U?U�U?U� O�UZU�UZU�O?U?U�

Wadkhulee jannatee

Sahih International
And enter My Paradise.”
